Primary Reading Program

Reading over the summer helps kids maintain or even improve their reading skills. Every child, up to age 12, who reads a certain number of minutes or books by August 17 will receive a prize. Pick up a reading log from the Children's Area to track minutes of reading or books read, then bring it in when it's completed to select a prize. This year's prize reflects our "Build a Better World" theme. Let's all build a better world!

"Take Me Out To the Ballgame" Reading Program

This reading program, sponsored by Woods Oviatt Gilman Law Firm and Monroe County Children's Librarians, is for kids who have completed grades K-12 as of June 19, 2017. Every book read between June 19 and July 31 earns an entry in Take Me Out To the Ballgame! Entry forms are available at the library; see Mendon's Children's Librarian or call Amy Joslyn at 223-9091 with any questions you may have.

Grand Prize:

Airfare, hotel, and game tickets for two people to a Minnesota Twins game.

Two First Prizes (K-5 & 6-12):

The opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a Red Wings game on August 23, 2017, four tickets to the game, limo service to and from the game, and dinner at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que.

Second Prize (each participating library):

Four tickets to the Red Wings game on August 23, 2017
