Thursdays, starting October 3rd, from 11 AM to about 11:45 AM, stop by to chat and have a cup of tea! Everyone is welcome, whether you are new to town or a lifelong resident. (Note: NOT being held on Thursday, November 14th, due to staff training that morning.) Nothing is required except the enjoyment of people and community. Friday Night Star Gazing November 8th
Local amateur astronomers will be presenting special star gazing events in Honeoye Falls at Monroe Street Village Park. The Friday, November 8th event is hosted by MPL and is open to residents of all ages, especially the young and the curious. Please register, esp. to get updates, as this event is weather dependent. Kindly enter the park with headlights off (parking lights only). Honeoye Falls Monroe Street Park (Fireman’s Field), 331 Monroe St., Honeoye Falls, NY 14472. PLEASE check the library website 4 hours before the event to assure that conditions will be favorable for viewing. An alternate date may be offered if necessary. Saturday Story Times Twice A Month
Miss Lori loves to share stories, songs, and activities with preschool kids and their families! Join us every other at 10:00 AM in the Mendon Public Library Jacobs Family Reading Room for a half hour of fun. Registration is not required; just stop in! The following Saturday Story Times are currently scheduled: November 9, and December 7, and December 21.
Traditional Haudenosaunee Craft: Make a Cornhusk Doll with Perry Ground
Kids, Teens, and Adults – Join us on Saturday, November 9th, from 1 – 2 PM, at the Mendon Public Library for a special Native American Heritage Month activity. Perry Ground (Onondaga, Turtle Clan) will begin this activity by providing some background information about cornhusk dolls, a traditional Haudenosaunee craft. The craft involves five steps and younger children may need help tying knots. Please register one participant for one cornhusk doll to make. Sponsored by The Friends of Mendon Public Library.

Join Miss Kelly each Tuesday morning at 10 AM for Story Time. Preschoolers and their caregivers will read a few stories, sing a few songs, and make new friends. Registration not necessary.

Mendon Library Celebrates Nancy Holtby and The Friends of MPL!
The week of October 20 – 26 is “Friends of Libraries Week.” The Mendon Public Library joins with libraries and communities across the country in recognizing the good work of this important volunteer group. In conjunction with “Friends of Libraries Week”, the MPL Friends gathered to place a commemorative brick for Nancy Holtby, their most recent Past-President. Our 2024-2025 New York State Empire Pass and the Very Important Places (VIP) Passes are available to borrow. The Empire Pass provides discounted admission to participating NY State Parks. Teen Corner Open
All teens and tweens are invited to come celebrate the grand opening of our new Teen Corner on Thursday, July 11th at 1:00 PM. We’ll have bubble tea, games, prizes, and more! State Assemblymember Jen Lunsford will help us with a ribbon cutting at 1:30 PM. We’ll also be unveiling our brand new, Manga book section!

Automatic Renewal Starts May 1
On Wednesday, May 1st, Monroe County Library System introduces automatic renewals! Eligible items will renew four days before their due dates. A courtesy email will be sent that lists each renewed item with its new due date.
