Veterans, Wild Mustangs, and EquiCenter
All Ages: Join us on Thursday, November 5th, at the library, from 6:30 – 7:30 PM, where Dr. Zach Collins from Monroe County Veterans Service Agency will discuss the use of wild mustang gentling in treatment of PTSD. Monroe County is partnered with EquiCenter in Honeoye Falls through their Mission Mustang® program which helps mustangs and Veterans find connection and healing. Come to learn about this work happening right in our community.
Amerks Reading Power Play

An American Tradition – Songs of Protest and Hope
All ages: Join us at the library on Saturday, November 7th, from 1 – 2 PM for “An American Tradition – Songs of Protest & Hope”. The Dust Bowl Bunnies music will tell of labor rights, civil rights, migrant struggles; the World Wars and Vietnam; nature’s struggle, and hope. Mendon Public Library is featuring a collection of Breyer Horses that belong to Livonia resident, Susanne Allen. Dungeons and Dragons with Linus
Ages 10-99: Check out these Thursdays to learn and play D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) with Linus. Whether you are experienced or new to D&D, all are welcome, on any or all days. Sign up to save your seat. Bring dice if you have them, otherwise all supplies will be provided. Linus is an avid D&D player, local student, and volunteer D&D trainer. LEGO Club Monthly Challenge
Children ages 7-12: Each month you can join other LEGO Club builders at the library, from 4:30 – 5:30 PM, for a new activity/challenge. Participants will receive a box of LEGOs and a prompt. Using their imagination, they can build what is suggested or build their own creation. Registration is required. Upcoming dates: Wednesday, November 18; Wednesday, December 16.
Firefly Friends
Firefly Friends is for children ages 2-5, with their caregiver present, and runs for 9-months (September-May), in 4-week segments. The Firefly Friends meet at the library on Wednesdays from 10 – 10:45 AM, and are led by Jennifer Catalano in nature-based stories, songs, and crafts to help little ones shine bright lights. Come meet Juniper the firefly puppet and help Miss Jennifer wake the sleeping fireflies! Registration is required; please register the student only. Current registrants will be allowed to keep their seat and continue every four weeks.
TONIES Collection at Mendon Public Library
Thanks to The Friends of Mendon Public Library, our children and their families can enjoy a new collection of screen-free audio players for kids! The Tonies collection includes 3 loanable Tonie boxes (these are the players) that come with headphones and 1 storytelling character. Each character contains a unique story, that plays when placed on a Tonie box. Our new collection also has 41 individual Tonie characters, each with their own unique and educational story. Tonie character stories range in target age up to about 10 years. The characters can be checked out and used on your own Tonie box, or on a library Tonie box.
LOTE (Languages Other Than English) for Kids
“LOTE for Kids!” (LOTE = Languages Other Than English) is another perk for Monroe County Library card holders: we have access to electronic children’s books in many popular languages. They also offer the LOTE4Kids app for your smartphone.
