Firefly Friends is for children ages 2-5, with their caregiver present, and runs for 9-months (September-May), in 4-week segments. The Firefly Friends meet at the library on Wednesdays from 10 – 10:45 AM, and are led by Jennifer Catalano in nature-based stories, songs, and crafts to help little ones shine bright lights. Come meet Juniper the firefly puppet and help Miss Jennifer wake the sleeping fireflies! Registration is required; please register the student only. Current registrants will be allowed to keep their seat and continue every four weeks.
Ages 10-99: Check out these Thursdays to learn and play D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) with Linus. Whether you are experienced or new to D&D, all are welcome, on any or all days. Sign up to save your seat. Bring dice if you have them, otherwise all supplies will be provided. Linus is an avid D&D player, local student, and volunteer D&D trainer. We will gather at the library, from 4 – 7 PM, on the following dates: Oct 1, Oct 15, Oct 29, Nov 12, Dec 10.

Stop by the Mendon Public Library on Monday, October 12th, from 9 AM to 7 PM and see the model train set up by the Genesee & Ontario Model N-gineers. Representatives from this group will be on hand to answer questions and share the love of trains with kids through seniors. No need to register, just stop by! Children ages 7-12: Each month you can join other LEGO Club builders at the library, from 4:30 – 5:30 PM, for a new activity/challenge. Participants will receive a box of LEGOs and a prompt. Using their imagination, they can build what is suggested or build their own creation. Registration is required. Upcoming dates: Wednesday, October 21; Wednesday, November 18.
Thanks to The Friends of Mendon Public Library, our children and their families can enjoy a new collection of screen-free audio players for kids! The Tonies collection includes 3 loanable Tonie boxes (these are the players) that come with headphones and 1 storytelling character. Each character contains a unique story, that plays when placed on a Tonie box. Our new collection also has 41 individual Tonie characters, each with their own unique and educational story. Tonie character stories range in target age up to about 10 years. The characters can be checked out and used on your own Tonie box, or on a library Tonie box.
“LOTE for Kids!” (LOTE = Languages Other Than English) is another perk for Monroe County Library card holders: we have access to electronic children’s books in many popular languages. They also offer the LOTE4Kids app for your smartphone.
