Tuesday Travel Talk Linking Hands for Learning in Nicaragua

Join retired Honeoye Falls-Lima Principal Jeanine Lupisella and her daughter Elise on Tuesday, March 19, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, in the Mendon Public Library Jacobs Family Reading Room, as they share information about their mission trips to Nicaragua. For more than a decade, Jeanine and her husband Rob have led trips to Central America to carry out the mission of Linking Hands for Learning (LHFL). As stated on their website: “Our mission is to improve access to education in impoverished areas throughout the world. We are committed to building schools, promoting literacy, and fostering community relationships that will enable children to learn, grow, and thrive. Our goal is to support communities in their efforts to provide quality education to their children by building schools that are safe, functional, and conducive to learning.” Kindly register for this program. Bees, Butterflies, and Bats

Did you know that almost a third of the food we eat depends on pollination? Join us to learn more on Wednesday, April 3rd, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, in the Mendon Public Library Jacobs Family Reading Room. We will learn what pollination is, what creatures help with pollination, and read a book about the honey bee. Children can complete a honeycomb bubble wrap painting or participate in a pollination activity to make a bracelet they can take home. This event is geared towards Pre K – 3rd grade children and registration is required. This is a workshop of Monroe County Cornell Cooperative Extension.

Kids Stay Safe on Streets and Sidewalks

Elementary-aged school kids, join us at the Mendon Public Library on Wednesday, April 3, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM as we learn from the Monroe County Office of Traffic Safety what we all can do to stay safe while riding our bikes and/or walking through town. We’ll watch some videos, do some crafts, and discuss safety. It’ll be fun and informative. Please bring your bike helmet; we’re going to be checking to make sure they fit properly.  Kindly register for this program.

Blackout Poetry for Kids

Hey Kids – Come join us to celebrate Poetry Month with a special Blackout Poetry event, lead by Joanne Brokaw, a creative arts teacher. On Thursday, April 4th, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, in the Mendon Public Library Jacobs Family Reading Room, participants (that can read at a basic level) will be taking a page from a book or magazine, picking a few words that you like, and then blacking out the rest to make a lovely poem. All art supplies will be provided. Sign up to reserve your spot.
