CLOSED Labor Day Weekend
The Mendon Public Library will be closed Saturday, August 31st and Monday, September 2nd for the Labor Day weekend. We hope you enjoy your extra time off and will visit the library when we reopen on Tuesday, September 3rd at 9:00 AM.
NY Empire Pass and VIP Passes for 2024-2025
Our 2024-2025 New York State Empire Pass and the Very Important Places (VIP) Passes are available to borrow. The Empire Pass provides discounted admission to participating NY State Parks. (Please read the Empire Pass Guidelines for use.) The VIP Passes are for a variety of cultural sites to obtain special offers at these Very Important Places, thanks to partnerships arranged each year by MCLS.
Tuesday Story Time – Restarts September 10, 2024
Join Miss Kelly and a special Summer Reading Program guest each Tuesday morning at 10 AM to gather at the Harry Allen Park gazebo (inside the library if weather is poor). You’ll read a few stories, sing a few songs, and share in some special summer memory making. Tuesdays, through August 6th; then a break until September 10th.
Preschool Story Time in Two Languages with Miss Rosa
Preschoolers and their Caregivers are welcome to join Miss Rosa at the Mendon Public Library on Fridays, starting September 13th, from 10 AM to 10:30 AM, to enjoy stories and songs in English and Spanish. Miss Rosa will read from a variety of books and share her love of language, culture, and creativity. These story times are currently scheduled through October 11, but more could be added if availability and interest allows. No registration required.
Friday Night Star Gazing September 13
Local amateur astronomers will be presenting special star gazing events in Honeoye Falls at Monroe Street Village Park this summer. The Friday, September 13th event is hosted by MPL and is open to residents of all ages, especially the young and the curious. Please register, esp. to get updates, as this event is weather dependent. Kindly enter the park with headlights off (parking lights only). Honeoye Falls Monroe Street Park (Fireman’s Field), 331 Monroe St., Honeoye Falls, NY 14472. PLEASE check the library website 4 hours before the event to assure that conditions will be favorable for viewing. An alternate date may be offered if necessary. LOTE (Languages Other Than English) for Kids
“LOTE for Kids!” (LOTE = Languages Other Than English) is another perk for Monroe County Library card holders: we have access to electronic children’s books in many popular languages. They also offer the LOTE4Kids app for your smartphone.
Automatic Renewal Starts May 1
On Wednesday, May 1st, Monroe County Library System introduces automatic renewals! Eligible items will renew four days before their due dates. A courtesy email will be sent that lists each renewed item with its new due date.
