Hummingbirds are fascinating and provide loads of enjoyment as you watch them out your window. On Thursday, March 26th, 6:30 – 7:30 PM you can connect via Zoom to learn about hummingbirds’ essential needs and the plants that will lure them to your yard. Registration is required for the Zoom link. This program is hosted by the Greece Public Library; if you have any questions, please call the library at 225-8951. The Master Gardener Series is brought to you by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County and is available thanks to a consortium of MCLS libraries who are sharing resources and connecting communities.

Girl Scouts Display for Women’s History Month
Q. What do these remarkable women have in common? A. They have all been chosen, researched, and presented by local Girl Scout Troop 61026 to take a spot on the gallery wall at Mendon Public Library during March, Women’s History Month. Stop by the library to see this good representation of women’s history and women’s future.

Saturday Story Time Twice A Month

Join Miss Kelly each Tuesday morning at 10 AM for Story Time. Preschoolers and their caregivers will read a few stories, sing a few songs, and make new friends. Registration not necessary.

Bike Safety and the Manor School Bike Bus Program
Elementary-aged kids, join us at the library on Monday, March 30th, from 1 – 2 PM, as we learn from the Monroe County Office of Traffic Safety what we can all do to stay safe while riding our bikes or walking through town. We will watch some videos, do some crafts, and discuss safety. It will be fun and informative. Please bring your bike helmet…we are going to be checking to make sure they fit properly. In addition, we will have representatives from the Manor School Bike Bus Program on hand to share information how you can ride with them this spring. Kindly register.
Mushroom Walk at Mendon Ponds Park
Kids, Teens and Adults. Join Sam Warren from Food Forest Fungi, on Wednesday, April 1st from 1PM – 2PM for a mushroom identification walk while exploring the beautiful woods of Mendon Ponds Park. Special Story Time – Getting to Know Our Muslim Neighbors
School Age Children and Caregivers, join us on Thursday, April 2nd, from 1 – 1:30 PM, for a special “Getting to Know our Neighbors” story time. Shaheed Ali, director of Mighty Muslim Mountains, and women from his group will share stories and traditions of Ramadan, the holiday just celebrated by our Muslim neighbors. This Mighty story time is brought to you in part by the Mighty Muslim Mountains Youth Program, a Rochester-based youth program that promotes healthy environments for healthy character development of youth. NEW: TONIES Collection at Mendon Public Library
Thanks to The Friends of Mendon Public Library, our children and their families can enjoy a new collection of screen-free audio players for kids! The Tonies collection includes 3 loanable Tonie boxes (these are the players) that come with headphones and 1 storytelling character. Each character contains a unique story, that plays when placed on a Tonie box. Our new collection also has 41 individual Tonie characters, each with their own unique and educational story. Tonie character stories range in target age up to about 10 years. The characters can be checked out and used on your own Tonie box, or on a library Tonie box.
LOTE (Languages Other Than English) for Kids
“LOTE for Kids!” (LOTE = Languages Other Than English) is another perk for Monroe County Library card holders: we have access to electronic children’s books in many popular languages. They also offer the LOTE4Kids app for your smartphone.
