Adults, join us at the library on Fridays at 1:30 for a free movie (January 10 – February 21.) Free snacks provided by The Friends of Mendon Public Library. No registration necessary.


January 10:  The Boys in the Boat (PG-13, 123 minutes) is a sports drama based on the #1 New York Times bestselling non-fiction book written by Daniel James Brown. The film, directed by George Clooney, is about the 1936 University of Washington rowing team that competed for gold at the Summer Olympics in Berlin. This inspirational true story follows a group of underdogs at the height of the Great Depression as they are thrust into the spotlight and take on elite rivals from around the world.

January 17:   Fly Me to the Moon (PG-13, 132 minutes)  is a sharp, stylish comedy-drama set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing. Brought in to fix NASA’s public image, sparks fly in all directions as marketing maven Kelly Jones (Johansson) wreaks havoc on launch director Cole Davis’s (Tatum) already difficult task. When the White House deems the mission too important to fail, Jones is directed to stage a fake moon landing as back-up and the countdown truly begins…

January 24:  One Life (PG, 110 minutes) This drama is based on the true story of Sir Nicholas Winton and his heroic deeds during World War II. As a young British broker, he traveled to Prague in 1938, three months after the war broke out. He found destitute Jews who fled Nazi persecution in Austria and Germany. Families were willing to send their children away before the borders closed. Nicholas helps them ship the children out. But in his older years, he is haunted by the thought that he didn’t do enough to help more children.

January 31:  Conclave (PG, 120 minutes)  Conclave follows one of the world’s most secretive and ancient events – selecting the new Pope. Cardinal Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) is tasked with running this covert process after the unexpected death of the beloved Pope. Once the Catholic Church’s most powerful leaders have gathered from around the world and are locked together in the Vatican halls, Lawrence uncovers a trail of deep secrets left in the dead Pope’s wake, secrets which could shake the foundations of the Church.

February 7:  Reagan (PG-13, 136 minutes)  From dusty small-town roots, to the glitter of Hollywood, and then on to commanding the world stage, REAGAN is a cinematic journey of overcoming the odds. Told through the voice of Viktor Petrovich, a former KGB agent whose life becomes inextricably linked with Ronald Reagan’s when Reagan first caught the Soviets’ attention as an actor in Hollywood, this film offers a perspective as unique as it is captivating.

February 14: Little Women (PG, 135 Minutes)

Four sisters learn about love, life, and loss as they grow through their young womanhood against the backdrop of post-Civil War America. At the heart of the family is the headstrong Jo who aspires, above all else, to forge her own path. Based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott.

 (*) February 21: White Bird (PG-13, 120 minutes)  White Bird is the story of Julian’s grandmother, Grandmère. Traveling back to her traumatic childhood, she recounts her time as a Jewish girl in Nazi-occupied France. Seeking shelter in a small village, she finds a family who takes her in and hides her away from the Nazi forces. What follows is a poignant tale about friendship and survival in the most difficult times. A sequel to the 2017 film Wonder.
