Teens: Learn how to classify the light from distant galaxies over a slice of pizza! On Thursday, November 19th, from 2:30 – 3:30 PM, here at the library, a NASA citizen science project run by RIT researchers needs your help to study distant galaxies by finding features in their light!
They will tell you all about how you can process data from across the universe at any time and contribute to research on galaxies in the early universe, how far away they are, and what they are made of. In the process, we will learn more about what citizen science is, and how you can help scientists around the world.
Sign up to save your seat, and your slice.
No prior experience required. Hoping to try citizen science / Redshift Wrangler sites. If you want to bring your own laptop that would be great, but a laptop is NOT required to join in.
An adult version of this program will be offered on Saturday, December 5th at 11 AM (click here to view). Feel free to attend both!
