Mendon Public Library

Summer Reading Program

June 22 - August 14, 2020

Mendon Public Library invites everyone to join us for summer reading fun! This year is a bit different. You can participate in one or both ways:
READ & WIN or
CHALLENGE & WIN

How to READ & WIN !

  • Kids (Ages 2-12) read each week and win lanyard and button prizes. Your first week, request your SRP lanyard and first reward button when placing a book order for curbside pick-up at Mendon Public Library. Each week kids can add a button to their lanyards as long as they’re picking up books! For those who want to track their reading, please print the reading log form below, or ask our staff to put one in your book checkout bag. Completed reading logs can be emailed to mendonlibrarycirculation@libraryweb.org or turned in at the library to receive prize.

    Summer Reading Log (2 - 12 yrs)
  • Teens read a book and complete a book review. Every book review submitted earns an entry into a drawing for one of four $25 Visa cards. Drawings occur at the end of our Summer Reading Program.

    Book Review Form (Teens)
  • Adults read a book and complete a book review. Every book review submitted earns an entry into a drawing for a $50 Honeoye Falls Marketplace gift card. Drawings occur at the end of our Summer Reading Program.

How to CHALLENGE & WIN !

  • Kids, Teens, Adults & Families Create (or Write or Cook or Produce, etc.) & Submit any 2 challenges per week to enter drawings for prizes including gift cards & other fun stuff!

In place of our usual group activities for Summer Reading, this year we challenge our participants to independently complete 2 activities each week. Completing 2 challenges in a week earns an entry in that week's prize drawing (and if you complete 4 or more challenges in a week you earn 2 entries in that week's prize drawing!)

Each week has a theme as seen across the top of the challenge board, and there are 7 areas of interest as seen down the left side of the challenge board. If you would like some inspiration for these challenges you can view the boards on our Pinterest page, or click on the topic below to see the ideas we put together for you:
Moving    Creating    Writing    Producing    Cooking    Escape Room

The Take-&-Make area of interest offers a pre-packaged craft project that will be available by request for pick up at the library during our Summer Reading Program. Each week‘s craft is inspired by that week’s Summer Reading Program theme. Take-&-Make projects are available while supplies last.

Print/Save your own Summer Reading Challenge board here to start tracking your challenges, or ask our staff to include one with your items being checked out.
