Nipa joined the MPL Board of Trustees in February of 2021. She brings skills in writing, editing, and event planning, as well as experience working in project management. She has been involved in other community activities including HF-L School PTA Board, event coordinator/volunteer at HF-L schools, paid and volunteer martial arts instructor. She is currently a volunteer for Seize the Day: Amer’s Epilepsy Trail Run for Empowering People’s Independence.
Her childhood was spent in Bangladesh, England and Hong Kong. Her education includes a B.A. Economics from the University of California at Berkeley and an A.A.S. Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Nipa remarked
“As a child I always had my nose in a book. As a mom, I read for hours on end to our children to foster their love for books. Our children also learned many life lessons at MPL: taking responsibility for borrowed materials, sharing, donating, respecting their environment, stretching their knowledge and imagination. I always imagined either working or volunteering at the library once I was an empty-nester. The opportunity came up a little sooner than I had planned, but I was very excited to start giving back to the library.”
The library’s warm atmosphere is her favorite part of the library. Reminiscing about the Mendon Library, she adds
“I remember walking into the new MPL for the first time with my three children and feeling like it was a safe space for them to exercise a little independence.”
Nipa currently splits her time among many projects such as special projects for Armbruster Capital Management Inc., working on the Fashionipa Blog, and time with her family, and organizing events for the Cross Country/Nordic/Track team, and being a dance mom.
Nipa lives in Honeoye Falls with her husband Mark and their 3 children Omar, Amer, and Nyla.
