Seizure Recognition and Response: A Special Program for Epilepsy Awareness Month

Teens and Adults. Join us Tuesday, November 19th, at 6:30 PM for EPI’s Seizure Recognition and Response training, a general overview of seizure types and first aid. It provides a foundation for the general public to recognize and appropriately respond to the most common seizure types.

Topics covered include: Definitions & prevalence of epilepsy, seizure triggers and causes of epilepsy, common seizure types, seizure first aid, seizure action plans, when to call 911, SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy), epilepsy treatments, the stigma of epilepsy and mental health concerns in people with epilepsy. Presentation concludes with a brief description of supports available for those affected by epilepsy offered by EPI.

Presenter is Michael Radell, Education Coordinator/Camp Director. Mike has worked for EPI for 25 years and has been providing seizure training and epilepsy education for the past 15 years. Mike has personal experience with epilepsy as he was diagnosed in his late teen years and has been seizure free for almost three decades.
